The macro world : Predators and the prey

in macrophotography •  7 years ago

Hello Steemians,

In continuation with some of my earlier macro photographs, I wanted to share some more of my macro photography experiments. Pics shot with my Nikon Coolpix P100.

Praying mantis (not preying mantis) gets its name because of the way it holds its forelegs, as if its praying. On a bright and sunny afternoon at our resort in Greece, by the poolside I came across this one eating the head of its prey.

Geckos or house lizards are usually active at night and come inside the house mainly because of the insects which are attracted to the light. This one had a feast with so many ants around and ate the ones which were away from the group. This one moment where the lizard had multiple choices, it took a while to decide and I managed to get this shot. Luckily for the ants, the lizard got scared and ran away when I clicked. :-)

It was a busy day at the office for this guy with loads of insects stuck in the web

Hope you guys liked the pics. :-)
