A Few Micro Moths (Recent Visitors to My Moth Light)

in macrophotography •  7 years ago

Here are some recent moth shots. Most of these would be considered micro moths. That is, moths with a length of around 10mm or less.

All of the photos were taken with a Canon 7D and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens.

The first one belongs to the Oecophoridae family. It is Telocharacta hemicroca.

I don't have an ID for this one but it is one of the Tortrix moths - family Tortricidae.

...and another unknown Tortrix.

The next two belong to the Hypertrophidae. This one is Peritropha oligodrachma

...and this one is Eupselia carpocapsella.

Next is a member of the Glyphipterigidae. It may be Glyphipterix chrysoplanetis but it has a different background colour to the norm.

I may have posted this one before but I cant see it there. Apologies if I did. It's a small member of the Cossidae, Idioses littleri.

...and lastly, a Red Footman, Scoliacma bicolora, which belongs to the Arctiidae family. (Note: the Arctiidae is sometimes listed as Arctiinae [spelling difference] a subfamily of the Erebidae )
