Mayflies In September

in macrophotography •  7 years ago

A few more photos from my stash. This time, we have some mayflies. Ironically (or maybe not?), I took these photos in September. There were several of them around, and I spent a good 30 minutes snapping pictures of them. If I have my species correct (Hexagenia limbata?), then these guys probably only live a day or two, so they spent a relatively large percentage of their life posing so that I could get a few pictures. I feel kind of honored in a strange way.
