vintage Monroe adding machine
I remember seeing these adding machines (in fact this one haha) in my dad's office when growing up. My dad worked for a natural gas company. All the meter men brought their charts back to the office and used the adding machines to calculate gas flow. These machines were ubiquitous in field offices in the oil and gas industry from the 1920's all the way through the 1960's. Even a little more recently, I grew up in the '70s.

No .. I do like vintage things though. It's crazy thinking how far along we came in technology. Most carry one of those around in our pockets today and that same device also allows us to talk to others through it with no cord attached .....

Well my I-phone battery sucks so I'm attached to a cord more than I would like ;)
I'll post full photo of my adding machine it has a moving carriage on top. Really cool.

Better hold on to it; maybe it will be worth millions later :-)
