in maidsafe •  8 years ago

And I decided to check it out, of course.

Here's how to Setup (quick)

  1. Download & Install & Run the Launcher
  2. Download & Install & Run the Demo App
  3. Setup the Proxy

Make sure the Proxy is enabled

Things to Do:

Register your Public ID (important)

Upload Files

Public example: Upload your Website and Link it via Manage Websites
Private: this is your personal space

Check if your Proxy is working

Open: http://info.fav.safenet/ in Chrome

Note: BitShares wallet is not working, yet

and you should see

it's actually pretty easy to setup and use, so definitely a plus there.

I'll make sure to follow the development, I wonder how Graphene and Safenet could collaborate in the future...

Let me know if you need some help setting it up

This is HUGE news, people.

AWS and Azure are about to get one hell of a competitor in their already dominated market-space, that's for sure!

I'm really happy that it's you who is breaking this amazing news here (as I remember how skeptical you were about MaidSafe).

Thanks!

Most people have never even heard of the project but I'm so excited they're finally going live! For those who don't know what MaidSafe is, in a nutshell it allows anyone and everyone to run client software and become part of one big giant cloud based server that pays you in crypto (similar to Steemit) for sharing your unused computing resources with others in the network. People will be paid out for everything from unused CPU time and storage capacity, to even unused bandwidth while you're sleeping!

A very ambitious and awesome project indeed! Amazon's AWS and Microsoft's Azure have a new contender to deal with, and unlike their business models the MaidSafe system pays you for your participation instead of you paying them for the privilege to participate!

This is indeed HUGE News for those of us who have computing resources that sit idle, collecting dust while they become obsolete. We can now put them to work for others and be rewarded for helping build the world's largest crowdsourced cloud computing platform.

Cool! I was actually just wondering when this would be happening. I'll have to check it out.

yeah, and it's just working. took me around 5 minutes to follow the setup guides and that's it :)

Safe is going to be right up there with Steem as far as things that cause complete paradigm shifts. I've been waiting for alpha for more than 2 years and I couldn't be happier.
One thing to note, this is alpha release of the client software only. Vaults will be coming later this month.

Thank you for quickly putting out there your first experience with a tutorial. Amazing! @fav here is my response to "I'll make sure to follow the development, I wonder how Graphene and Safenet could collaborate in the future..." https://steemit.com/safenetwork/@mranderson/safe-network-alpha-release-solves-data-persistence-immutability-problem-for-steem

OMG OMG OMG! I'm a little excited if you can't tell. :)
