What's the purpose of Mainframe ?
Give to you the rights that you deserve on Internet.
Freedom - You should have access to and control of your own data online.
Privacy - The tools you use should empower you to reveal and share only what you choose.
How they want to do that ?
Mainframe is not a product, it's a movement. To understand that, first you need to understand their fundamentals.
Mainframe is built upon five fundamental principles:
No outside party, whether government, corporate, or rogue hacker, will have access to your messages or media.
Identifying or monitoring even the existence of communication between parties is effectively impossible.
With token incentivization, Mainframe can adapt as a vibrant, active, living network.
All data services that your Mainframe applications rely on are distributed in redundant fragments throughout the network.
The Mainframe protocol will be avaiable for any app, network or blockchain that requires private communication services as long as the blockchain offers smart contract support(NEO/Ethereum, Tezos and more).
And now you have to know what these fundamentals represent.
It give you a real freedom and a real privacy, your fundamentals rights in law.
They aim to create a new layer of the internet where privacy and freedom are first class citizens as they said. They want to engage people and to give them the opportunity to get your right back.
What they want to prevent ?
In recent years businesses have shown the threat of corporate espionage or dragnet surveillance is greater than we're imagined. Some companies that are trading sensitive information, they don't want it on these servers that are being hacked.
False identity use, privacy violation, privates datas stolen, there is so many cases they can prevent. Think 2 minutes about it, just to realize how far it can go.
Tons of sensitive information are stolen via the internet every day. The government and other centralized powers misuse their authority and exploit the internet’s vulnerabilities, gathering users’ information illegally as a result. These points show how the internet may be a danger to privacy rights, especially for people whose life and work revolve around private and valuable information.
According to the Mainframe whitepaper; Google, Apple and Microsoft power over 85% of the trillions of emails each year. When you think that these services are free, the email account holders aren’t their customers but rather the product these companies are monetizing. They make money thanks to your datas, is it right ? Definitely not.
Use Case
Mainframe’s services can be used from individual messaging to different businesses operating with sensitive data, the healthcare industry and even the government(f.e. transferring information between different agencies).
From Utopia to reality.
Actually they have a prototype called Onyx who is pretty cool, it's a fully decentralized workplace messaging tool, the first application built on the Mainframe network.
But imagine this a global scale, it looks fantastic but also normal, since the beginning of internet users don't have the control of their data and their privacy but almost 20 years later Mainframe has the key to do it, restore our true freedom.
Imagine built-on Telegram, you will also know exactly who you are talking to end reduces risk of getting scammed.
And there's something else, Mainframe has an appropriate level of specificity of message based on the network conditions so no risk of malicious attack.
In their blog you can find that someone suggest Mainframe as the ideal platform for the US medical industry to build privacy law compliant comms tools for hospitals and other medical professionals. This technology will benefit niche communities (like medical information professionals) and regular netizens alike.
A great idea needs great people to build it.
I found interesting than the people behind Mainframe are not some random guys. They are people who launch an app called Spatch, who is a communication platform launched in 2016. So those people got this vision of an internet where privacy and freedom are kings before the Bitcoin buzz. And that's very important because blockchain give to them the opportunity to build Mainframe, the blockchain technology was the key missing to create something like Mainframe years ago but they had this vision of the "free" internet already few years ago. The first believers of this project are the creators themselves and it's why I called this a movement because they want to engage people to believe in it, to join their cause and to get together our freedom back !
I would like to add something about their crowdsale who is actually a crowdgift. So they give away tokens to people in 3 phases. Proof of Being, Proof of Freedom and Proof of Heart. Recruit ambassador before the pre-sale to drive the community forward and spread the message of privacy and security to a wider audience. Everything is in symbiosis in this project, each action reflect the values of the project and the team. Remember, it's a movement not a project.
I'm a truly believer of this project because I share the same values of this people and what they're trying to do. I would love to call it the revolution of the internet. They bring to us powerful tools to the world to restore your rights as netizen. Your privacy and your freedom in the real life have to be the same in internet. The Mainframe's journey is gonna be exciting so don't miss the train guys !
