“Curio of Memories” - Entry to @artwatch's Thankful Sketch Challenge

in makesmethankful •  7 years ago

For what am I thankful?

There are more things I am thankful for than I can count! Each day I wake up I feel a deep sense of gratitude. Like most people, I have had my share of hardships, heartache and sorrow. And there have been times of great joy and love in my life too. Be it good times or bad times, I am thankful for the experience.

For this challenge, I've selected a small sample things for which I am thankful that I'd like to share.

Blue Urn
To symbolize all of the family and friends I have lost. Funerals are one thing that don't seem to get easier with practice.

Heart in a Box
A symbol of all the times I have moved/relocated.

Speech Bubbles
Being the new kid at school wasn't much fun for me.

Sourpuss
The me I used to be most of the time (not as thankful as I might have ought to been).

Seashell
A symbol of nature – I've always been in love with nature since as long as I can remember!

die Katze
Some little girls love horses, some love dolphins. Personally I was obsessed with cats.

Scissors
To symbolize arts & crafts, a lifelong passion.

Superstar
The me I am today, thankful to be on this journey!

Right on this is really cool.... and did you go full digital here? I like it, something we don't see from you that often :)

I thank you. I almost went full digital! Not 100% there yet, water still feels safer in a way. I drew on paper first to get my ideas organized first. Look what I found today ☺

was starting to get a little worried there hahahaha

I am in love with the breakdown sketch. So much depth in concept/forthought. Your work always compelling. I like that you embrace the contrast in life.

It seems like my sketchbooks have so many plan pages like this one, and no matching final project. I'm working on that, challenges like this one help. If we don't laugh and embrace the chaos that is life, we cry and reject it. That lifestyle was too much work not enough reward, so I switched. It's been enjoyable seeing all the things everyone is thankful for. And crap I just remembered I have to link this post to your challenge announcement post! Thanks again

I love this post, and all it means and entails. But what I also really like is the little doodle-drawings that made it up in the mental realm of things. Those are so cool. Once again, I would like to frame that.

Frame as you see fit! Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate it. The real curio cabinet of memories in my mind is gigantic, no way it could all fit in one digital document. This little sample was a lot of fun to create! ☺

A fun project and a lovely sentiment!

Thank you kindly ☺

Great entry! Very authentic! Thanks for sharing with us. I, too, love cats - I have two of them currently (and don't plan on any more lol). In fact, you might hear one of them soon - I was working on a new video in which I'm doing some star wars art for a contest on steemit and Steel can be heard meowing.

Meows are probably not as disruptive as barks, although I could be mistaken. Cats can yowl pretty good when they feel like it! Thanks for having a look at what I'm thankful for.
