Boxy Charm March 2018 - Review and Tutorial

Good Tuesday morning!! How is everyone?! Are you busy preparing for the Easter Bunny's arrival on Sunday? Caleb is really looking forward to waking up and hunting the eggs that the Easter Bunny hides all over the house for him.
How do you celebrate Easter? The past three years we have been having my family and some of our friends over at our house for lunch, tons of sweet desserts and many games of Wahoo. My niece had her little baby girl on Saturday night, so I get to see my great-niece on Sunday for the first time. I am over the moon excited to see her and hold her!!

Well, you didn't come here for chatter about Easter bunnies so let's get into the post, shall we?

Let's start out with the eye gel packs by South Maine.
These are such fun to use. I love having a mini pamper with eye gel packs for various reasons. They don't take very long to use, they are very user friendly and are very clean....well meaning they are not quite as goopy like some sheet masks can be. While I cannot attest to the claims of reducing dark circles or puffiness, because I don't typically have much of those items, I can say how refreshing they feel.

Next item up is The Vintage Cosmetics - Smokey Eye Brush Set
I am not disappointed by these at all. While I have many, many brushes, these will get great use from my collection. I like how soft they are, how they apply shadows, and to be honest they are so cute!!

The Pur Cosmetics Complexion Authority pallet
I have to be honest here, I really don't find that any Pur Cosmetic pallet's ever work well for me. This is such a beautiful pallet and like all the other Pur pallets, I want so badly to enjoy them...unfortunately for me they just don't pan out well. I have been seeing other people's reviews online and many people love these shadows so it leaves me to wonder if maybe I am applying them wrong or maybe my skin just doesn't go well with Pur. Either way, this little pallet will be going to the "donate to the nieces" basket.

While I may not found these shadows to work well for me, I did use them many times and found a look that I did enjoy making with this pallet and did a tutorial for you to see.

On my lips I used the Katy Perry Covergirl lipgloss in Kitty Karma.

The shade I used on my lid was by far the most cumbersome to work with. It just seemed to fall off in chunks off of my lid after applying it. I tried using a setting spray on my brush but it just came off in bigger chunks.

Fourth item on our list.....an my absolute favorite one of all, Pretty Vulgar Blush in Make them Blush
Oh my, I cannot get over the packaging on this one. I was already biased when I looked at how beautiful this blush looked in it's package. However, I did try it out and can safely say that I will be using this blush many times over. While the pigmentation can be very shocking, it can also be very subtle if you apply it very lightly. It's perfect for Spring and Summer, but I also think this would look beautiful with frosty eye look and the blush softly applied to cheeks in the winter.

Last item is the Bellapierre Volumizing Mascara.
Nope, it most certainly is not volumizing....at least not yet. The formula is too thin for my lashes to bulk up with. But that doesn't mean all hope is lost....I will find many mascaras with this type of formula and all I have to do is allow them to sit for a couple weeks to "dry out" if you will, and it makes it work so much better. My lashes just do better with a more dry mascara than this one, so I will be picking it back up again and seeing if it's any better with time.

While I was disappointed by the initial formula of the mascara, I know it will eventually get some use. Same as the rest of the eye gel packs, brushes and most certainly the blush. The one item that will be given away will be the eyeshadow pallet. But that's ok. This was still a fantastic box and I am excited to see what next month has in store for me.
