Hello and welcome back to 523 on this beautiful Wednesday!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. Ours has been touch and go for a bit. Caleb has been sick some, the hubs has been sick some and I have been sick some. I am thinking it's all the allergies right now in North Texas. Hopefully with a few more Benedryl nights we will all be dried up and ready to take on the weekend!! I'm looking forward to it because we have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING going on this weekend!! We have a cubscout meeting Friday night but after that, there is zip, zilch, zero things planned for us. We are celebrating this joyous occasion of doing nothing by having a family movie night!! Caleb and I are already in the works of planning it out from the movie we watch to the meal I make and the after dinner dessert. We are so excited for this Saturday night. BUT, you did not come here to listen to me ramble about movies and benedryl, so let's talk some makeup.

Today I am going to give you my run down of the Kokie Cosmetic Cushion Foundation.

Below is the description of what Kokie Cosmetic gives:

"Wish your foundation would improve your skin while you wear it? Make your makeup multitask with Kokie Cosmetics skin-friendly Cushion Foundation! Inspired by K-Beauty, this sheer-to-medium-coverage liquid foundation is dispensed through a practical cushion compact and packs a serious punch. We’ve made sure the formula is packed with all kinds of goodies! Protect yourself from the aging effects of UVA/UVB rays with a weightless cocktail of active ingredients. Soothe and restore your skin with Niacinamide, Adenosine, and Lecithin!

This foundation has a “your skin but better” effect that leaves your skin looking supple, dewy, and bright. You’ll look luminously healthy with a sheer layer, and naturally flawless with additional coverage. The compact is made of sturdy plastic, closes tight, and includes a special super-dense sponge for flawless application: it’s perfect for travel and touchups. Simply take the included sponge (or one of your own), gently press it into the compact, and with a tap, tap, tap, pat it in!"

*Buildable sheer to medium coverage
*Dewy-natural finish
*Skin-friendly ingredients

So let's start with the sheer to medium coverage....yes this is very sheer to light-medium. In my photo below you can see there is still redness peeking through on my nose and around my chin hopper. I couldn't get to a medium coverage like it stated, even with layers of the product. But a little concealer and it was good to go. I didn't notice it looking cakey like after putting multiple layers on either, so that was a nice surprise.

Dewy-Natural finish - Why yes it is a very dewy finish. I have a very oily complexion, therefore "dewy" doesn't always mean good things for me. But I was pleased to find out that the staying power on this foundation was really nice up to the 6 hour mark. After that time it started to show breakdown and shiny areas on my face. Like most "dewy" foundations, by the time they start to break down and wear off, what is left will sink into my pores and it's never a nice look for me. I have to keep up with the touch ups throughout the day for this to keep from happening. And this foundation did the same as all the other foundations I have tried that were dewy. I can only assume if you were a very dry skin person this could work well for you, but don't quote me on that.

Skin friendly ingredients - well that depends.....how do you feel about these ingredients?

Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Butylene Glycol, Zinc Oxide, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Glycerin, Lauryl PEG-8 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Niacinamide, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Magnesium Sulfate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Alcohol Denat., Acrylates/Dimethicone Copolymer, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone, Crosspolymer, Mica (CI 77019), CI 77492, Triethyl Citrate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Lauroyl Lysine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Stearic Acid, Hydroxyacetophenone, Hydrogen Dimethicone, CI 77491, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, CI 77499, Adenosine, Lecithin, Isostearic Acid, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate

I don't have much of an opinion except that it has sunscreen and I like that. The rest is not something I overly concern myself with. I didn't have any reaction to any of the ingredients as of yet and I have used the entire foundation up, so I am ok so far.

Now my thoughts on the foundation.

First of all $16.00 for a foundation is a little high for me. This only has .42 oz in the compact and that's not much foundation at all for that price. I used up this little compact in about 3 weeks and there were a couple days that I did not use it during that time.

I thought the wear time was great for me having oily skin and the foundation was a dewy finish. Six hours is a good time and what I would normally expect from most products.

I used a brush to apply it and a sponge and there were no differences in the finish or the amount of product.

Applied with a brush:

Applied with a Real Techniques sponge:

I wasn't sure what to expect from a cushion foundation, because this was my first one to purchase. I have now purchased 3 total from different brands and I find the Kokie to be just the same as the others on how it applies. I have different finishes and coverages on the other two foundations so I can't compare them completely to the Kokie. I will do a follow up when I am finished testing the other ones to see if my thoughts have changed any.

But for now I did enjoy using it. It did not dry up or get cakey looking in the pan. I really think this would be a great option to throw in your bag for travel. I have toted this little pallet around trying to see if it would spill or if the compact would open up during rough and tumble rides in my purse, but it stayed in contact.

My thoughts are that if you are dry skin and looking for a portable foundation for travel, enjoy the feeling of a sheer coverage and dewy complexion and aren't too scared of paying $16 for half an ounce of foundation, than you might like this product. I do not see myself purchasing this again but its because I am oily skinned, and love a full coverage for a little less money. But those are only my thoughts and you must make your own.

Let me know what you thought and if you have tried this foundation or are going to try it out. I am not here to convince you to purchase something, I am here to tell you what I thought and allow you to decide where you want to spend your money.

I hope you enjoyed, and will come back again and visit me here at 523!!

Until next time, take care!

-Kim
