Malaga city that has always suffered many floods, most of them produced by the river "GUADALMEDINA", DECIDED to build a dam which they called "the Hole" to mitigate a little the floods and the floods of 1907 did not happen again, for this they also channeled, he laughed as he passed through the city.
BUT it seems that this dam was not enough to prevent the floods that continued to occur every time it rained, for this reason in 1983, another dam is built, about two kilometers below with the objective of supplying water to the city and controlling the waters of the river.
The site on which it is built is clayey, having a crown length of 414 meters, a height above the foundations of 95 meters and on its bed 76 meters. Its capacity is 25hm3 of water reserved in its interior, which occupies about 105 hectares .
The construction of this marsh, supposedly, the division in part of one of the gardens of the "BOTANICAL GARDEN THE CONCEPTION", More curious is the name given to the dam that comes from a typographical error because the name had to have been Marsh Swamp because the lands where it is located belonged formerly to the figure of the "limosnero" of the bishopric.
The inaccuracy in the poster remained in time and remained in the consciousness of the people of Malaga. Since then it has been called "EL PANTANO DEL LIMONERO", THESE THINGS ONLY OCCUR IN MY BELLE MÁLAGA.
