Our afternoon started near the roma villa , The Domvs Romana is a ruined Roman-era house located on the boundary between Mdina and Rabat, Malta. It was built in the 1st century BC as an aristocratic town house within the Roman city of Melite.

The most astonishing feature of the Roman Villa are the beautiful and fine Roman mosaic pavements found in the Peristyle and the surrounding rooms. The mosaics date back to the first century BC and were produced with extremely fine techniques created by highly skilled artists and are today one of the oldest arrangements from the western Mediterranean.

Then off for lunch and eat A pastizz is a traditional savoury pastry from Malta. Pastizzi usually have a filling either of ricotta or mushy peas, and are called pastizzi tal-irkotta, "tal-ħaxu", or pastizzi tal-piżelli.

Walking down the old street of rabat , we came across the church of St Paul which was closed until 4pm But we were still able to visit the St. Paul's Grotto, The Grotto is one of the most venerated sites on our island, which is where St Paul is said to have stayed when he arrived on our island in 60 AD. He was shipwrecked in Malta when he was travelling from Crete to Rome to be put on trial in front of Julius Caesar.

I am afraid We got a little rain, But still had time to walk around the old village of rabat ,Rabat is in the Northern Region of Malta, with a population of 11,497. The name of the town is derived from the Arabic word for 'suburb': الرباط, as it was the suburb of the old capital Mdina.

I never made it inside the Roman Villa as long as I lived in Malta. :( Walked past it many times, but it always seemed to be closed. I have walked around Rabat several times though--beautiful city!
