Parable of Jesus: A man planted a fig tree in his garden and came again and again to see if there was any fruit on it, but he was always disappointed. Luke 13:6

The gospel of Luke relates that Jesus on his journey from Galilee to Jerusalem taught very important parables to highlight the true nature of the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections.
And among the beautiful fantastic stories that Jesus told to illustrate some characteristics of his spiritual doctrine is the parable of the barren fig tree.
The objective of this parable is to teach the importance of the freedom of choice and progressivity, men are similar to that fig tree that can bear fruit or not depending on which path they decide to choose, righteousness ("Do to others what you would have them do to you" Matthew 7:12) or sin.
And God in this story is that man who goes to look for the fruits of the fig tree, the men who do not bear fruit like the barren fig tree are uprooted from the earth and thrown away. And this does not only have a spiritual meaning for Christians, also when the people of Israel did not bear fruit, they were expelled from their land as happened with the exile in Babylon.
The Kingdom of God is a commitment with the sensible life, and in particular with the common sense, because that is what spiritual life is about, how often sin is bread for today and famine for tomorrow.
With these brief words, Jesus summarized his parable to enlighten his disciples and listeners:
"A man planted a fig tree in his garden and came again and again to see if there was any fruit on it, but he was always disappointed. Finally, he said to his gardener, ´I've waited three years, and there hasn't been a single fig! Cut it down. It's just taking up space in the garden.´" Luke 13:6-7.
