Everyone's heard about Manali in himachal pradesh. But i am not talking about Manali in this post. About 3 hours away from Manali and 49 km north of Mandi is Prashar Lake
I went there in December, when the mountains had snow-capped peaks. The trek was tedious, not because it was long, but because the track was covered in thick sheet of hard ice. Even after wearing good trekking shoes i fell a lot of times and somehow managed to reach the lake. It was worth it and the most memorable experiences of my life.
The end of trek and the gate to the lake
Finally the lake.
Yes, that's a piece of land floating in the lake and the depth is unknown.
There is a temple right beside the lake.
You can stay in the temple itself, there is a temple dorm and rooms are available for the visitors. I could not stay overnight since there were not many rooms and the ones available were full and the guest house right outside the premises was full too. But sitting there beside the lake near the temple was very peaceful and scenic. Sage Prashar was believed to meditate here. I could totally feel the calm vibes.
I want to go there again and stay overnight just to see the vast sky filled with stars and the reflection of those in the lake with the piece of land floating.
PS.: no you are not allowed in the lake or near it and you definitely can't go on the floating island :D this was my first question on arriving to the temple priest.
