Not that I wondered that ever, but I discovered that when the temperature of the waters drop in Florida, these gentle animals flock by hot springs. And there is a beautiful one just north of Orlando in Central Florida. You want to check it out during the winter month, preferably. The Manatee Springs State Park is located at the end of S.R. 320, off U.S. 19/98, six miles west of Chiefland.
It's not only beautiful, peaceful and inspiring. You can also do all sorts of water related activities and picnic over there.
Certainly worth the detour!
The waters are cristal clear and you see a lot of fishes, snakes and bird life. Alligators too, although we haven't seen any when we were there.
Beautiful walkways through the forest
This is a "historical" building were you can see how people used to live there.
We also found a pretty manatee and a pretty girl!
Anyway, the place is really nice if you like nature! I recommend it!
