Manchester City have made an enquiry for Riyad Mahrez, the Leicester City winger, after Leroy Sané was ruled out until the end of March with ankle ligament damage.
Pep Guardiola, the City head coach, confirmed this afternoon that Sané would be out for between six to seven weeks as a result of the dangerous challenge from Joe Bennett, the Cardiff City defender, during Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie in Wales.
Sané could miss the next 11 matches, including both legs of the Champions League last-16 tie against Basle and the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal on February 25.
