There is no doubt in Paul Scholes' mind that the reason England are among the four teams that will fight for the World Cup is because of Pep Guardiola's influence on the Premier League.

That Manchester City are playing the best football in the division is no coincidence.

"Gareth Southgate went to see Pep and wanted to know how that kind of football is produced," Scholes said on beIN Sports.

"Guardiola has definitely been an influence for the national team, you just have to see the way the three centre-backs play and the way our goalkeeper plays.

"As an England fan and a former England player, we want to see the best football possible.

"Spain played the best football, Manchester City played the best football, why not try to copy that kind of game?"hqdefault.jpgimages(1).jpg
