hey rdel welcome!

Not wanting to link drop much in chat but this should help answer @imransoudagar https://steemit.com/homesteading/@wholesomeroots/what-is-homesteading-anyway

mango is dying!

Morning All Question? Is it me or does anyone else think that fall is going to be coming way too early. Do you find that it has gotten cooler like close to frost way earlier in years past. Do any of you read nature, like the migration of geese and how early and how low they fly to determine how many weeks to winter or snow or heavy frost? Thanks for responding in advance

@wholesomeroots I planted carrots, peas, radishes and spinach so far. I planted my potatoes late so that they would be ready to harvest end of october, they need 100 days to be ready to harvest, here in Canada it's a guessing game with the frost, but as long as your seedling is up and healthy your root veg should be ok, and well protected in the ground.

Hello Everyone! First off THANK YOU @wholesomeroots for letting us know about this! I seen it on your homesteadingchallenge post! I had no idea about this.

I think I got Homesteading channel added on day two! I thought it was a great channel for Steemit chat!

Howdy @gardengircanada I will have to check out your blog! How many months of summer do you receive on average...I presume just one growing season?

Helloooooo and Hidey Ho Steemians!! My first time here, went right to Homesteading!!!

Wow Rose ...great find on the list of 200 plus homesteaders on steem....

Anything at all happening here on the homestead channel?

be safe!!!

AHH! A cat 5 headed this way.....Living in Central Florida we just never know...we have been flooded many times in our yard and had many near misses with large trees but this one looks scary...Our house is solid poured and our barn is built for winds up to 180 mph being inland that should be fine...God will take care of us..come what may!

I'm really passionate about homesteading and learning and teaching others! I hope we can all grow together!

@wholesomeroots Is this where we are supposed to be Rose?

No, lol, I think you are going to the wrong place? The post I shared had link to mangosteem in the post text. Clock on it and it takes you to chat room. On left are the channel options and Homesteading is one of the channels. Click it and you are in Homesteading chat room.

I watched a flock of geese yesterday, flying really low, so to me that indicates really early frost/snow, I want to say 11 weeks to snow. Here in Canada. But wait how many weeks till Christmas....LOL

Good Morning, sorry, good evening homesteaders

We don't typically get any crazy weather here in Canada either except for massive snow/ice storms that can knock power out for days. We can have 8-9 ft of snow fall in a winter so flooding in the Spring around the bodies of water can be devastating, The ice buildup would crest and dam the water flow backing it up and over the banks.

I hope everyone on coast evacuates!

Evening all I would have to agree with @imransoudagar, there is great quality content from @wholesomeroots, I love reading her posts.

for this channel to be created, yes

Morning all. I just posted a story about my experiment with 3 types of green bean planting methods. Hope you go and check it out, it has some interesting results even after we had a couple of frosts.

@wholesomeroots welcome, now lets get this channel populated. I am passionate about gardening, Homesteading, Prepping and permaculture.

Thank you @wholesomeroots we are going to be busy chatting on here and on slack, but hey you never know where you will get that great piece of information that may just help in the homestead or garden. Which country were you from again, I meet so many on STEEMIT.

sorry I wasn't here earlier! How are you @cahlenlee

@wholesomeroots: Awesome!!!! keep up the good work.

anybody from cuba?

I'm so excited about this opportunity and this channel! I am out for the evening for dinner at friends but would love to chat later if anyone is around!

The best autovoting advice I ever saw was from a guy on youtube. he's been in for a year ... and he said ... let's get real ... if you have a life you can't keep a constant eye on all your favorite eye after about the first 60 days ... you need help! and it's like cutting a record deal. you like what they're doing, you support them, check in on them as you can, and continue or discontinue supporting them.

My cats all came down with something. they were all sneezing. and one showed up walking around drunk as a skunk with her head twisted like it had been rotated a healthy 15 degrees ... after disappearing for 2 days. People told me she had gotten old of some little blue tailed lizard but the more I researched ... I came across something that made more sense. outside cats can come down with a specific kind of ear infection. Silver all the way

It's really new and in early stages of development but upvoting chat Comments works like it does on a steemit post comment.

I hope everyone in southeast US has evacuated or prepared for this storm adequately. We are in Georgia and are getting last minute supplies today!

We are going to have some serious rain and wind so we are making room in barn to bring the chicken tractors inside! At least hubby doesn't have to go to work during the storm and he can be here to help us with any last minute preparations and in case of emergency situation.

Thanks everyone for caring and supporting me, it is a hard time for us...

I live so far away from being able to help out the poor souls who have been devastated by the flooding of Harvey so I made a post this afternoon to try and help those with the knowledge that I know. It is called cleaning up the vegetable garden after flooding. It may be just a small gesture but there is some good info for people so that they wont get sick and save what crops they can.

rain and a little wind, chickens are going out today but goats don't have a paddock and hate rain

feeling better now that the storm passed and we are okay!

they are tired of being in barn, lol

@apvlog, no dropping post here please

sorry I keep distracting myself. I bookmarked autosteem I'll look into that for the future. Thanks @marillaanne

Neither had been active on steemit for 24 days. Then yesterday they both show up to upvote everything THL posted at about the same time. Coincidence?

ha! that doesn't surprise me Dude! did he actually reply to your comment? I was sick when I saw he had hit trending and didn't even use his own tag and used a tag he suposedly despises and trash talks... sad

I asked him to cite sources for his claims, he name-dropped WHO and then went into his typical bully insult routine. But I think he's running two other accounts to try to make himself important or something.

It's probably his daughter and mother who signed up and refused to then do anything

I swear I'm thinking of hijacking my husband's account with an autovoter

That could be they are related. Funny how none of them mentioned that

and good morning everyone

Morning @marillaane

lol it's just the first thing that ran through my head cause i'm in a slightly annoyed sort of mood this morning ... I have no ideas for real though

i have to remind my husband to get on to vote for me, lol

see we could just save ourselves grief if we set it up with streemian lol

sometimes he does actually upvote if i'm especially on about something

Dude I do not put it past him to set up accounts to vote for himself, he has proven himself to be very untrustworthy on several occasions.

So where is everyone from and what level of homesteading mix are we looking at?

to admit, I have unfollowed the man.

I'm going through steemd history for @merakipearls and @mumssmoko right now. Almost identical. Should I call him out on that in his comments?

I did too @marillaanne - Rose is a bad influence and told about it :)

I'm wanna be ... sitting in a perfect location but I've been sick or hurt almost since the day we moved here and my husband started working 50 to 60 hr weeks at the same point

I did raise a patch of chicory this year :-D like for real on purpose

I'm still a wannabe homesteader, but any day now I'll start

@bobbleheadstead if you call him out, you'll have to call him out repeatedly

OH and in Kentucky

THat's probably true, he has little shame.

something oily about the man

ok i'm gonna go write and check on my autovoter. I'm starting to get my list of favorites down

I'll leave it alone for now and see their voting patterns continue. At least his latest posts didn't make a bunch of $

ah, some apprentices to train, rubs hands together with sinister grin

lol you have no idea how much we want goats!!

goats = life!

I'd like to hear more about autovoting sometime

Cool, Rose, how long will you have them?

This is going to sound kind of horrible ... but when our friend told us they're either up or down ... and then watching you ... we're kind of like we can do this in a weird sort of horrible way. You're gonna wanna choke me if I tell you ... but you may as well know the truth. One reason we've held back is because vet bills. we can't cover the vet bills. So it's all herbal or a bullet.

lol, I was talking about you and @marillaane,

oh I hear you on vet bills

and it's like the pits to have to put down an animal that might could have been saved. but if it really is all or nothing ... then we're actually ... in a fine place to start with a few.

I litterally had no way to pay the vet... the bills are rolling in now and I couldn't even open any after opening the first one... it about made me sick

and between watching our friends and you ... it seems to be the truth.

oh, lol, yes I'm definitely an apprentice. I did have some experience with milk goats 25 years ago. I wasn't a big fan then. But now I have almost 3 acres to clear, so...

I don't know what we are going to do, we can't not feed our family in order to pay them... we will try a payment situation and hope they don't hat us...

well from all the research you've provided I don't see how they can

out of 9 that got sick we saved 5 with herbs and antibiotics... it can be done

OH Drats ... I keep forgetting to ask you so let me ask you

That's one of my hang-ups with starting with come goats. Cost versus potential income from them. I can't do the milking thing. No way I could afford that, hope a windfall or something comes to help you guys out

just one necropsy on a deceased goat is $330 plus "disposal fees"...

I did remember the context in which I heard about the man that treats his cows with colloidal silver ... our dairy owner, she said she knows of a man who actually injects it. She was having issues with one of the cow's eyes and I said spray it with silver ... (I was sick, so don't ding me for not remembering a conversation lol)

meat goats on a wooded property like yours would be able to be supplemented with hay and skip the grain I'm sure jeff

and on top of that there's developing a real market for clearing that ... ivy that's taking over the south ... with goats.

sooo the question @wholesomeroots is do you want me to get info on who this brave cattleman is to compare notes?

i had someone send me links on the silver use for livestock. I am thinking about getting a thingy to make it when tax returns come in spring

@bobbleheadstead the best autovoter is https://autosteem.learnthis.ca/#!/filters because of filter precision ... but it is not the most stable. And it's browser based so it only runs when you make it run

plenty of hay in my neighborhood. I'll look into how I might sell some goat meat in that area. I don't have a trailer or anything to transport goats. I just really need to make $ asap with whatever livestock I invest in

but thank you!
