Manipur ( located in the North-Eastern part of India and measuring 22327 sq. km.) along with the Himalayan ranges emerged from the sea known as " TETHYS" during the Paleozoic period (570-280 million years).
During the CREATACEOS period (60-110 million years) and EOCENT period (40-60 M.Y), the mountains, rivers and lakes, and valleys are formed due to the Tectonic movement of the earth.
