March Madness Freewrite Day 8 Prompt: jittery

in marchmadness •  6 years ago  (edited)

Velene had been fantasizing. Hoping that she would find the love of her life. As she was putting on make up in her car, she was jittery. Her fingers seemed to be shaky and worried if her eyebrows were drawn uneven.

She got a date! At a Japanese restaurant. This man was the Branch Manager of a direct selling company in the city. The company whose name started with an A.

They arranged to meet at 7.00pm but she was there since 6.30pm. At the parking spot in front of the restaurant.

That evening, the sun hadn't set yet. It was quite bright, still but slowly getting cloudy. There was still some light to let her check her make up.

Velene made sure she looked decent. Checking herself in the rear-view mirror. This man was middle aged. So, she guessed, maybe, he would like somebody like herself.

She was wearing a flowy black skirt, with a white fitting V-neck shirt on top. She looked slimmer and curvier. Maybe he would like a chubby girl.

She had overweight problems since teenager. The lowest weight she could achieve was 75kg. Currently, she's weighing 95kg. Proportionately chubby.

"Oh, it's time," she thought to herself. She kept away the cosmetics and did a final check with the mirror. Smiled. Nice lips. Ok, let's go, she thought.

Then, she walked to the Japanese restaurant, and saw a man right sitting at the table, near in front of the door!

He stood up greeted her. He was tall. She likes tall and muscular guys. Not so muscular. He was in the mid-40. She thought, she might be the one.

Unfortunately he didn't smile much. He looked so serious like Beethoven's face, very fair. He was wearing glasses and so did she.

She was always playful around people but trying to be serious with him. They started conversations about businesses and owning house.

Well, Velene didn't mind about that. She seldom thought of owning properties, not as desperate as that.

The waiter came to take their orders. As typical diners, they ordered a meal and a drink. She tried to order the cheapest meal, so that he might think that she would not need "high maintenance" cost as a girlfriend or wife.

They continues their conversations like interviewing each other in an office. Almost like colleagues. So boring.

She was still hopeful. Not all couples would talk non-stop.

After dinner, there was no extra minutes for more chit chat. He paid the bill and said, nice to know you. And they went separate ways. Velene was happy and she drove home with a smile.

The days were empty, because he stopped texting. He used to text her every day. Every day.
