WannaCry Kill Switch creator got arrested due to alleged involvement to Kronos malware

Did you remember the WannaCry Ransomware which harmed 74 countries and extorted $53,000 worth of Bitcoin this may?

The labeled "Hero", Marcus Hutchins who created the WannaCry kill switch that stopped Wannacry attacks, was taken into custody of the FBI in August 02, 2017. The 23-year-old was arrested in the airport of Las Vegas, Nevada airport on his return to the U.K. where he lives, after attending Black Hat events and Def Con cyber-security conferences.

The accusations include his involvement of the creation of Kronos, a banking malware and the alleged selling and marketing of it in Alphabay and other forums in 2014 to 2015. Kronos is a malware which was created to steal banking login and other financial information from the infected computers. If proven guilty, Hutchins could face up to forty years of imprisonment.

Philippines and Hon Kong partnered in a fintech startup to serve the unbanked market

JG Summit Holdings of the Philippines and Oriente of Hong Kong joined forces in solving the financial exclusion difficulties for small businesses and unbanked people in the region. According to statistics, 264 million adults are still unbanked in Southeast Asia.

The partnership is planning to create a digital financial services platform for loans, such as small business finance, unexpected medical bills and school tuition fees. They plan to launch the project early in 2018.
