Today's Weed News For October 16th 2018 #COLUMBUS

For today's weed news we go to the great state of Ohio.

Zoning officials in the city of Columbus just announced some proposed new rules for future dispensaries that hope to open their doors and do business within city limits.

The new rules would:

Dictate where in the city dispensaries can be operated.

Require that dispensaries send letters of introduction to associations in the neighborhood they want to exist in.

Require dispensaries to get special permits from the board of zoning adjustments.

Ban dispensaries from operating less than 500 feet away from any other dispensary.

"The main premise behind this code change is to encourage the medical marijuana dispensaries, which will have public interaction, to have connection and communication with area commissions or civic associations in the area where they're located," said Columbus' assistant director of the Department of Building and Zoning Services Tony Celebrezze.

"The public can learn a little bit better about what goes on in a dispensary and remove the mystery of what occurs there," added Celebrezze.

The way he explains it does sound kind of logical if you ask me. I know there are a lot of people out there who were, and still are, brainwashed by reefer madness style propaganda. I would bet that most of them probably imagine the worst possible things when they think of what could possibly be happening inside of a MMJ dispensary.

I do have to admit that they are creating an awful lot of hoops for cannabis entrepreneurs to jump through. Let's just hope these proposed changes doesn't make doing business in Columbus too cumbersome to be worth the effort.

Columbus' Development Commission already unanimously approved these proposed new rules and have already passed them on to the Columbus City Council so that they can be written up and brought to a vote.

But regardless of what happens with these new rules, medical marijuana dispensaries are definitely coming to Columbus soon!
