Officially, Mario stopped being a plumber a long time ago

As a legendary personage of popular culture and as emblematic icon of Nintendo, Mario has been defined for the whole world from a series of inseparable features of his figure. Namely: his mustache, his Italian ancestry and his profession.

Mario's plumber status is like that of Millionaire for Batman, private detective for Sherlock Holmes or archaeologist for Indiana Jones.

Although in Mario's case it was not always like this.

Mario's profession was determined by the design and plot of the video game he starred.

That is why, in his beginnings, he was a carpenter, since Donkey Kong was located on a construction site.

However, the definitive popularity of Mario would arrive with Mario Bros., when already with his brother Luigi, he took care of fighting creatures that came out of the sewers, and therefore he established himself as plumber, his most famous occupation.

Now Mario's profile on the official Nintendo site has been updated, leaving a revelation that, although it could be presaged, is not without its eye-catching.

Kotaku took care of translating from the Japanese the updated profile of Mario on Nintendo:

"Always a good athlete, be it tennis or basketball, soccer or car racing, Mario does everything in a great way. In fact, he also seems to have worked as a plumber for a long time."

It is not strange that it is no longer officially considered as such, since if there is something Mario has not done in all these years is to dedicate to plumbing.

Although this is his profession, it could be said that everything related to the rescue of Princess Peach has distracted him from his work proper.

Perhaps the princess's excuse is no longer condoned by her bosses and even expelled from the plumber union.

But that will not be a problem for him, there is no doubt, since there are many other professional areas in which he has demonstrated his ability, be it medicine (Dr. Mario), archeology (Mario's Picross) or sports and athletics.
