BANGER OF THE WEEK: Port Management and Operations

There's pretty much only one book you have to read on the subject of ports and maritime shipping. It's a massive book that will take you several days to get through even on a sped-up audio listen-through, but it's well-worth it.

Everything from the manner of loading and unloading to the roles that unions play in modern shipping ports, to how gantry cranes came about and finishing up with the lean management concepts spearheaded by Toyota, the book has it all.

The writing is simple and straightforward, not unlike the stevedores and managers active in the shipping industry. What little experience I have with the space attracts me greatly due to its no-nonsense approach.

There is much more than this book is able to provide still unknown to me in the maritime space, but I will be expanding on this subject in future readings. In the meantime, what an absolute BANGER OF THE WEEK.
