Market Friday Time Turner

in marketfriday •  7 years ago

Instead of going to the market, today I was the market. I met with a client who ordered $1,500 dollars in prints and products! It was pretty amazing. As soon as I was done, I ran to the bank to get my business accounts opened...the lady helping me had this amazing time turner hanging off her computer, so we talked about Harry Potter and I showed her my cameras which have Harry Potter names. She was also training a young lady who is also a photographer! It was a pretty great way to spend an hour at the bank!

Will do! Thanks. :)

Congratulations! It's great when others want to pay for your work. :-)

It really is amazing! I know other photographers locally who average this amount in sales, but this is my biggest sale yet!

Well done! Do you sell on FAA and Redbubble too? You can pick up some extra bucks on there, and they handle all the printing and framing etc!

Just checked out your website. You do portraits and they are fabulous! I used to have a portrait studio, and some clients wouldn't bat an eyelid at paying thousands for their portraits. So, it'll become the norm if you stick at it! I wasn't fond of dealing with clients, so went back to purely stock again when my lease for the property ran out.

Oooh, what is FAA? I used to have a Redbubble but it was ages ago. I might need to give that a go again.

I'm really wanting to open a studio/gallery. I love portraiture and weddings but I also love my just for fun projects too and I think they could potentially be worth a few bucks. I also shoot a fair bit of film which I can't submit to stock sites, but I love the asthetic.

Oh, sorry. It’s Fineartamerica! You may enjoy having a studio. I thought I would, but I got it out of my system lol!

Of course, in the early days it was all transparency film I submitted for stock, but now it’s all digital. I’ve been Digital for longer than I can remember now. You can still digitize film to submit for stock, but you have to decide if it is worth it. These days, you need many thousands of images out there to make any kind of 💰!

Yeah, I've tried to submit digitized film on shutterstock but anything over 100 ASA is too grainy for them. I live in Washington state, 100 ASA doesn't work in the cloudy rainy PNW most of the time.

I sometimes shoot at 1600 iso! Lol! The micros don’t like noise, and they tell you to remove it before submitting. So I always remove noise from the skies etc in Topaz. They don’t care about the actual iso, as long as you have removed the noise before submitting! Regular stock agencies like Getty are more picky about style and content, and don’t care about noise, because their clients will remove noise themselves.

I feel like noise is ugly but grain is gorgeous....I don't want to remove all that beautiful film texture!

Congratulations on your sale 💗 great job. That time turner is awesome, would love to hear about your cameras and names!
