If You Want to Support Steem ... Be on TWITTER

Answer this Twitter poll to help add Steem to the BTCC Exchange: https://twitter.com/bobbyclee/status/862908660707540992

Today we have a fantastic example of why everyone who wants to see Steem spread and grow should be on Twitter and any other popular social media platform. The Co-founder & CEO of @YourBTCC; Board Member of @BTCFoundation is now conducting a poll on twitter for what cryptocurrency to add to their exchange and Steem is on the list! We're currently in third place of the particular poll we are included in (there are multiple polls), but with only about 1,200 votes total in the poll if just a small percentage of Steemit users vote we could easily take the number one spot! Not only that, but even in the primary poll Ethereum is in the lead with only 1,087 votes out of 4,181 total votes. I have more followers on Steemit than that!

The Real Value of Money

This isn't just a great example of why we should all be on Twitter, it also demonstrates the power of being the only cryptocurrency with a social network built on it (and more coming soon). Because we have a place where we can coordinate our actions we can have even more influence than our mere market cap would suggest. What people forget is that the reason currency is valuable is because it facilitates the coordination of human activity. Money isn't valuable because of the attributes it possesses. If that were the case simply designing a currency with the "ideal" attributes would guarantee its success. The attributes are what enable it to be used to coordinate activity. The US dollar is valuable to me because it allows me to coordinate activity with my local supermarket. They're doing lots of stuff to stock up their store, I'm doing lots of stuff to help grow Steem, and the US Dollar is what allows us to interact despite the fact that I have no idea what it takes to run a supermarket and they don't even know what Steem is.

This is precisely why I believe that Steem is undervalued (disclaimer: this is not investment advice): 1. It is objectively a great form of money with free and nearly instant transfers, and 2. it is great at facilitating the coordination of human activity.

This isn't the only reason to use other social media platforms. In fact, the biggest reason is: that's where the people are. If we want to bring the people to Steem, we have to interact with them, and if we want to interact with them we have to be where they are. You can think of it as destroying them from within, using the enemy's tool against them, or just using these applications until better versions are created on Steem (like #Zappl). Whatever your justification ... just do it!

Shout out to @kingscrown for finding the poll and bringing it to my attention!

I'm looking to organize people interested in outreach, feel free to DM me on steemit.chat for more details

I am interested. As I am already doing it for free, person to person, and via social media.

Voted!

Zappl anyone?

Yes, please

Absolutely. And hopefully we will be able to share our zapps on twitter to attract new users!

You need to do news of the project here as well as we do news blocking

4 votes for STEEM via my accounts.

Full power upvote for you good sir!

Thanks, mate.

Just voted for STEEM and retweeted it. I recently got on Twitter basically just to promote Steemit to the masses.

I'm tweeting this

Voted. This is one of the reasons I created twitter account, to follow favorite cyptos and support them. Go Steem!

I've only started on twitter in the last couple of months. I now try and post most of my Steemit posts on there. Most of my followers (and the people who retweet my work) are interested in cryptocurrencies or crypto-art so it's a good way to bring new people to my Steemit posts via my links.

That's great. Also great that you're showing this site isn't just about crypto but art as well

Yessss, we can do it!

DONE!!!

27%, getting higher. Just need to spread the word...

yeah Resteem too!!

everyone should be on twitter anyway!

That is until Steem have dwarf twitter.

YES, EXACTLY. But use the current tools in order to help onboard to new sites.......that's why i am using twitter and the rest....A CONVERSION TOOL
And I think I owe you a thankful note.....I think you were right and i was wrong. Steemit has a good fighting chance now and it's because positive people like you exist.

I totally agree with you about the fact everyone should be on twitter. I'll put it to very good use. I'm working on some super idea. Sadly I'll need a new computer to put it off but I will in due time.

I really appreciate you saying this. I also think you we're totally wrong or me totally right. The beauty about Steem is that the code is open source. Everyone can propose the chance they would love to see happen and the whole community will be able to vote. Sure biggest SP holders decide in the end but the other way around wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say I'm an optimist with everything related to Steem and I'm glad you share me your appreciation of it!

This is precisely why I believe that Steem is undervalued

I think the initial biggest problem with Steem was that it was too complicated even for blockchain enthusiasts and this resulted in it being labelled a scam. That labelling still affects its price even today. Cryprto-newbies searching for tokens to put their money in, get scared away by any mention of scam. They don't even bother to look into the claims and just move on to the other options.

Another possibility is that blockchain enthusiasts prefer to put their money in other tokens that they cannot profitably mine. They then put their time in Steem and try to mine through content creation. This results in the slow growth in valuation. In the meantime, Steem is attracting a lot of users who will eventually attract advertisers. These advertisers will hopefully demand more and more Steem, the value of Steem will then go up and attract more content creators who will then attract more users and advertisers. Cycle of increasing valuation!

Voted, also posted about Gridcoin in the thread too though ;D

I agree with you that Twitter is a valuable way to help Steem... though I don't really agree that voting in straw polls is the way to do it

The best part of twitter IMO is the ability to think / converse with the larger blockchain community. There's so many smart people thinking out loud on that platform. In that sense, communicating and making new connections in this space is a GREAT way to build a personal platform. From that platform, it's easy to promote Steem (like I do - linking my Steem articles on Twitter, Facebook, etc)

My advice for non-tweeters looking to get started: Make an account, follow about 100 of the most interesting people you can find, and start putting aside a few minutes a day to read and tweet.

yes voted for Steem and we are going up in the poll

STEEM is currently @ 41%, next up is REP @ 21%

Great post and good ideas.

Getting there right - leading poll 3 - just voted and retweeted - now we are ahead in poll 3 - let us hit that together!

I voted, upvoted and retweeted.

Voted for steem and liked everyones steem replys. Tether is a mess, and what do the others projects have working to show off now (today)?

.@YourBTCC (Poll 3) Even more choices... will have run-off poll later. Vote now!
Please #Retweet!

We can do this, steem is now at 42%

Ste m way in the lead now at 42% because of two posts on Steemit. This is the advantage crypto with its own social network has.

Great info

Will support!

Is it too late? I went to check it ou but the pool didn't load???

Give it another try, seems to be working now

Done :) It would seem we are leading!

Only in our bracket, we need about 1000 more votes to take down Ethereum! https://steemit.com/steem/@andrarchy/steem-has-taken-the-lead-now-let-s-take-down-ethereum

facilitates the coordination of human activity.

BINGO! the "activity economy" meets the "attention economy"!

Congratulations @Andrarchy! This post has been ranked within some of the most overvalued posts in the first half of May. We estimate that this post is overvalued by $290 as compared to a scenario in which every voter had an equal say.

No way, I'm not going back to twitter :)

We have a lot of catching up to do at this point.
