I'm part of a Facebook group called "Canadian Writers & Bloggers," which currently has 900 members. Several months ago, I initially told this group about Steemit. That post, unfortunately, didn't get a lot of traction.
But today I took advantage of another chance to remind these writers and bloggers that Steemit might be a good option for them.
About once per month, the group admin posts an opportunity for anyone to share paid blogging or writing opportunities. The last several times she posted this, there were no responses. Being compensated as a blogger is difficult, so I figured I'd step in and mention Steemit, especially considering the increased popularity in Bitcoin/cryptocurrency over the past few weeks.
My message:
I've noticed that the last few Paid Blogger Opportunity Threads have been quiet, so I thought I'd share one suggestion that might be a fit for a few writers out there.
Right now there is a lot of hype around Bitcoin and its skyrocketing value. But many people don't understand how to attain Bitcoin, or any form of cryptocurrency for that matter.
I've been blogging on a website called Steemit for the past year-and-a-half. This is a blogging website (similar to Medium) where writers can be rewarded with their content when other users give them upvotes (similar to a "Like" on Facebook). These rewards come in the form of a cryptocurrency called "Steem." In the time I've spent blogging on this website, I've earned several thousand Steem (as of today, 1 Steem = $1.36 CAD).
Is this website perfect? No. It has its challenges and some users complain about the types of content that receives upvotes; however, I know of several writers who found their niche on Steemit and have become successful focusing on that.
Plus, you automatically become a cryptocurrency investor as well, simply by blogging! If you do join, feel free to connect with me: (@wadepaterson)
I think sometimes writers are hesitant to try new webites and experiences because they have had a bad experience in the past. True, writing on steemit is a slow and steady pace, but with dedication and persistence, it can be a successful platform.
You'll have to keep us up to date if any of the FB members come over.
