Sunday was a lovely day, learnt a lot about the habit of being thankful always. I got to be reminded that in every situation I find myself, there is always something or someone to be thankful of.
It is to be noted that the phrase “Thanks” was found seventy-one times in the bible and “Thank God” was recorded four times in the new testament. The amazing thing about it is that King David used the word 50 different times while Apostle Paul used the phrase four out of the five times it was used.
These two bible characters have a worship lifestyle and close communion with God that can be emulated, it shows a person that shows gratitude to God often has a close relationship with Him.
The preacher also mentioned seven different reasons we should be thankful for if we do run out of reasons to.
- The gift of life (Acts 17:25): Life is a gift from God, and since He has not taken it from us we ought to be thankful to Him.
- His Word (1 Peter 1:23): His word is always honored by Him, all utterance uttered by Him would definitely come to pass. This means all the good things He has said concerning us would come to pass, we should be thankful of that.
- The salvation that was purchased by the Blood of the Lamb (Titus 2:11)
- His Blessings (Prov 12:22)
- The trials and troubles (Romans 5:3-5): All things work together for those who love God, the presence of trials and troubles signify better days ahead.
- Land of Freedom: We should be thankful for the environment we find ourselves in.
- The blessed Hope: A true Christian is aware that earth is not the end, there is an eternity waiting. We should be thankful for that.
I would definitely praise Him more!
