The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing from October 26 to 29, 2020.
The plenary session was attended by 198 members of the Central Committee and 166 alternate members of the Central Committee. Members of the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and responsible comrades of relevant parties attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates. Some grassroots comrades, experts and scholars from the 19th National Congress of the CPC also attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates.
The plenary session was presided over by the Political Bureau of the Central Committee. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee, delivered an important speech.
The plenary heard and discussed Xi Jinping's work report commissioned by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and deliberated and adopted the proposal of the CPC Central Committee on formulating the fourteenth five year plan for national economic and social development and the long-term vision for two 35 years. Xi Jinping explained the proposal (discussion draft) to the plenary session.
The plenary session fully affirmed the work of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee since the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.
