As a Nigerian Lady, once you're 18 years old you're believed to have come of age to get married. From that moment forward your parents, aunties, uncles and even your grandparents if they are still alive would be asking you this question "Ayodele when are you getting ?" This question becomes unav especially when you have to go to a family function where all your extended family members would be present .
The family puts the girl child under undue pressure just to get married. It becomes an anthem amongst the family, you become a Topic and a prayer request by your family so that the heavens can drop prince charming into your laps.
I remember very well when my kid sister was getting married,I was too engrossed with planning her wedding and under alot of pressure to make sure everything works out perfectly and the last thing I wanted to hear from anyone "Ayo when are we going to be gathered here for yours? The look on my face was all the answers they needed to know that I wasn't going to be tolerating such from anyone.
Once they see the look my face, instead of asking the usual, they resort to saying prayer instead. They say things like "By this time next ,it would be you walking down that aisle in Jesus name".Funny the kind of things one goes through just because you're female.
Now I'm Thirty(30) and Unmarried.I've probably been blacklisted.I really want to get married to the man of my dreams who would love, adore me and can tolerate my excesses and good men are very hard to find and since I'm not in a competition with ,I think we should be allowed to take our time, find Love and happiness and not pressured into finding a husband and end up either in an abusive marriage or a marriage that wouldn't last.
To conclude this, My name is Ayodele Omokoga,I'm 30 years old and Unmarried and would find love when Heaven sends Prince charming my way. But for now,I'll live my life and enjoy all the goodies that comes it.Besides YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. (YOLO )
No rush!YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE So enjoy life 😊
