It is no news that if you turn to your TV or online news media, there is no week you won't hear of marriage problem or someone seeking got help in his or her marriage. This has caused a lot of mixed feelings as no gender in particular wants to accept the blame. It is on the news, somewhere in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Abuja. An aggrieved lawyer lamented on a post that 4,000 divorce suit has been filed in the court and said that these marriages is not over a year.
On the centralized network, they have been various topic on marriage and asking why men cheat or what do men see in side chicks that they don't see in their wives and the responses from men were crazy. It has been perceived that marriage issues are caused as a result of disrespect from their wives and change of attitudes. Some men claimed that their wives changed after they got married. So one of the major causes is change of behavior in marriages. An Africa still want to command respect in their homes same as at when they were dating.
This is my take, I think most people feel marriage is a fairytale and it happens the way they see movies especially the ones from Asia. Some rush into marriage due to pressure from family, peer groups. They jump in without knowing about the person they want to settle down with but unknown to them. Marriage isn't just like dating when one can wake up and say he/she is no longer interested and walk out of the relationship. Once you haven't gone through hard times with someone, you won't know how to act when problem arises. We should pay more to courtship and spend time in understanding each other before going into marriage.
