Many do not know it but I in this post, I want you to know this beautiful martial art.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines facets of dance, music and acrobatics, as well as body expression. It was developed in Brazil by African descendants with indigenous influences, probably at the beginning of century XVI. He is known for his fast and complex movements, which use the arms and legs to execute maneuvers of great agility in the form of kicks, feints and demolitions, among others. Capoeira as a fighting style incorporates low movements and sweeps, while in the sports field more emphasis is placed on acrobatics and ritualized demonstrations of skill. It is practiced with traditional berimbau music.

There are several theories regarding the origin of the word capoeira. One of them is established by the Tupí-Guarani language, where, kapuêra (ka'ávy = campo, matorral, puêra = that was already) results in the sequence of the words capuíra, capoêra and capoeira. According to some studies, the word capoeira would designate a special type of cages, used in the transport of birds (capón), that were led by slaves to the markets. The term would extend from the cages to the slaves, brought from Angola, in Africa. According to the proponents of this hypothesis, while awaiting the arrival of the merchants, the slaves enjoyed themselves in the practice of their art-fight, also happening to denominate also under that term (capoeira). It also extended to the clearing of a forest where the sport was practiced and then to a nearby population.2

It is an interdisciplinary art that includes various cultural, martial, sporting and artistic aspects. It is a movement of athletic awareness that could be seen, in part as a dance, a rhythmic dialogue with a couple to the beat of traditional instruments music, and partly as a fight, a contained strategy of attack and defense movements
