Here is a picture of me judging while one of the top athletes at the competition was performing a butterfly kick at the tournament.
Following the Tournament, me and my students went to the park somewhere close to the University of Manoa where the competition was held and took some more pictures
Later on some of the students from the Hawaii wushu club took us out hiking to Manoa falls, we hiked up to the 3rd falls where nobody was there, the views were stunning.
We even got picked up and rode in the back of a pickup truck to the beach.
the rest of the time there after the competition we spent relaxing and touring around the island of Oahu. We were lucky with perfect beach weather daily. Some hot spots we visited were Lanikai beach on the windward coast, the north shore and diamond head beach.
This wasn't my first time as i have been to Hawaii over 6 times at this point but seeing the students see Hawaii for the first time was worth the ticket back over, it was similar to what i experienced my first time laying eyes on this beautiful island. Pictures dont do this place justice.
It was life changing and after the trip They also said it was a life changing trip.
After they left i stayed back another week to visit the island of Molokai, i was able to spend some time with another wushu buddy who lived on that island at that time. We spent a lot of time hanging out and talking about wushu, two of my favorite pastimes in life, martial arts and travel.
i also was able to do the Kalaupapa trail hike down to the place where the leper colony use to be, it was nothing short of spectacular. Since it was super expensive to rent a hotel in Hawaii i ended up living in a small boat at the harbor, which was quite a new experience since it was my first time sleeping inside a boat. The quote i used to explain the beauty of my accommodations was "someone asked if i was staying at a 5 star resort, i told them no, i was staying at a 5 billion star resort!
