Marx Capital

I have seen and listened to Professor David Harvey discuss his work on Marx on three different occasions. Harvey is among the most cited social scientists in the world today and has played a pivotal role in the emergence of Urban Geography and the birth of Marxist Geography. He finished his PhD in the early 1960s (!) at the University of Cambridge and has since then taken up several academic positions in the UK and the US. Harvey continues to teach at the Department of Anthropology in the CUNY (City University of New York). He has authored dozens of books, even more articles, but it is his teaching that is the subject of the video below.

This is the first installment of a 13-part series on Harvey's reading of Marx's Capital. In the videos, Harvey invites and guides his students on a journey through Capital volume I and II. He has been teaching this module for two (or even three?) decades, and the resulting series is an absolute gem for anyone interested in understanding the Marx of Capital. He also has this friendly grandfather vibe about him, which makes it nice to listen to his voice. Enjoy.
