Instead of Switching from Twitter to Mastodon, you should try Hive instead.
If you’re considering switching from Twitter to Mastodon then STOP!
It turns out that for all its hype, Mastodon doesn’t actually solve any of the problems you’re currently faced with on Twitter.
What Mastodon is NOT
Here’s what Mastodon social is not:
- Mastodon is NOT decentralised
- You do NOT own your Mastodon account
- Mastodon is NOT censorship-resistant
While Mastodon bills their system of dedicated servers as decentralised, they are actually just a series of smaller, centralised networks.
This system of closed servers means that you can’t switch your same account between servers, meaning you don’t actually own your Mastodon account.
As such, if you’re banned from one server then you are censored because the only way to move to another server is to create a new account and lose all of your data.
Mastodon solves nothing!
Why you should try Hive instead
If you’re after social media that actually solves the problems that you face on Twitter, then try Hive instead.
With your account and its data housed on the decentralised immutable Hive blockchain, Hive does solve all of those problems.
In true Web3 social fashion, you’re able to simply plug and play your Hive account into another front-end.
Nobody can EVER ban you or take away your ability to post to the blockchain via your account.
So instead of switching from Twitter to Mastodon, make the smart choice.
Get a Hive account and experience what it's like to own your account and have censorship-resistance.
