The aggregator of decentralized exchanges Matcha has banned transactions for users with Russian IP addresses, draws the attention of The Block.
"Since Matcha is managed by an American company, we must comply with the sanctions requirements," explained the moderator of the project group in Telegram.
Initially, the message "Trade from Russia is not supported" appeared on the platform, which was then changed to "Region is not supported". Despite the changes in the text, the latest restrictions presumably affect only Russia. For example, Matcha is still available to residents of Belarus, which was also affected by the shutdown of Western services. From a certain point on, Matcha restricts transactions from China, where cryptocurrencies are recognized as illegal.
Matcha ranks second among aggregators of decentralized exchanges after 1inch. DEX aggregators help to achieve better execution of orders by sending them through several exchanges. Services in the space of decentralized finance are usually positioned as a freer alternative to centralized exchanges, most of which, however, continue to work with Russian users.
"DEX is available to almost anyone in the world thanks to their distributed architecture," the creators of Matcha point out on their website.
Nevertheless, developers seek to restrict access to centrally operating interfaces, fearing consequences due to violation of sanctions requirements. In September last year, 1inch began blocking access to American users, promising to launch a separate portal for them.
