Great question! It got me to think again about order of operations I learned back in grade school. For those wanting to remember the order you can use an acronym PEMDAS which stands for Parentheses (simplify inside them); Exponents; Multiplication and Division (from left to right); and finally Addition and Subtraction (from left to right). So, if we use these rules on this problem we would start with the multiplication "30x0" = 0 next, we'll do the addition of "30 +0+1 " to get our final answer of 31 or "b)".
