A Serious Question

in mathematics •  8 years ago

A question has been asked in our office that is more complex than it appears on the surface.

Is there a person alive who has all 8 great grandparents living?

If so - who?

And now the probability questions, what are the odds that
a person can have all 8 great grandparents still alive?

And just how bad do the odds get as you get older taking into consideration that the odds must be bad to begin with?
