Sunday at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Park on Maui!

in maui •  8 years ago  (edited)

Sun Yat-Sen is a small park tucked away at the very end of Keokea just past mile marker 18 before Ulupalakua.

The park is a memorial to Dr. Sun Yat-Sen (1866-1925) a political leader of China. He became a revolutionary, and is known as "The Father of Modern China." He was the first provisional president of the Republic of China after the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty. The land for the park was donated by the Ulupalakua Ranch in 1989. There are two bronze statues at the park, the largest is Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. Close Up above, photo taken 07-09-2017

There are large guardian foo dogs surrounding the statues.

The Park Grounds are filled with peach trees, loquat trees, and fig trees ripening under the sun!

The green figs in the photo above will turn purple and be ready to eat soon! Here is a close up of the fig tree Photo taken 07-09-2017
