This is McDonald's

Some people really p--- me off. The trashcan is right next to this pile of fast food trash.

McDonald's and Kotipizza should in some way be held accountable for this pollution.

At least the Kotipizza cardboard trays will decompose. But that will take a long time.

Worse than that, there's McDonald's plastics all over in this image. At the moment, McDonald's is shifting away from plastic straws and other unnecessary plastics. But that is too little too late! Even if they change to biodegradables, this kind of sight will stay common. At least the trash will compose faster, but it will not be a solution to this problem. It's the drive-in, trash-out-the-window mentality that should be stopped and McDonald's is the source to blame. They have the responsibility to figure out a way to stop this. It could be by reducing packaging materials, encouraging responsibility, rewarding people for eating in, punishing people for ordering from drive-in (extra cost), donating to roadside cleanup efforts... Something must be done.

It could be that birds have extracted them from the trashcan. I certainly hope so. But it doesn't look like it in this case. The pizza trays are too hard for the birds to take out of the can. And they are not bent enough to have been inside.

In order to stop the birds, outdoor trashcans should have some kind of lids to prevent them.

It was too late and dark for me to start cleaning the place up. But I was positively surprised when I got there the next day. Someone had cleaned it up and the trashcan was filled to the brim. That made my day.
