Last year, Conor McGregor met with Cristiano Ronaldo in Las Vegas and challenged his spot as the highest paid sportsperson on Earth.
"You were number one on the Forbes list, I was like number 35 or something. I'll get up. Maybe next year I'll get you," said McGregor to the reigning Ballon d'Or winner.
"I don't think so," replied Ronaldo.
But McGregor was determined. So from that moment onwards, he put together an ingenious plan to volunteer himself for a pay-per-view decapitation with undefeated boxing champ Floyd Mayweather.
Conor managed to make around £70 million for his ten rounds against Floyd over weekend, dwarfing his previous record takings in the UFC (£3 million).
The fight takings push him above Ronaldo, as well as Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, basketball star LeBron James and tennis supremo Roger Federer.
Which just goes to prove that you should always hand your CV in for that lucrative job, even if you're wildly unqualified. It might just work out.
