We can't live with it we can't live without it

Most of us have to work. Some are lucky or fortunate enough they do not. I however have to. Today was particularly a hard day. My boss has been hard on me lately. I do not know if it is because she expects better of me or if I am just the unlucky one.
A client comes in and does not know what he wants. I can tell he has an image in his mind, but I am not a mind reader. Anyways after 8 minutes he walks out. I am beyond frustrated not being able to help the man but also because he sat in my chair and wasted my time. My boss later tells me that I was rude and she would have left a long time ago.
This is frustrating because I try so hard to be the best and yet I just fail. Have I picked the wrong profession? Am I just in the wrong place? How do I fix the nitpicking.? I am beyond flabbergasted, this is my life. However, the nitpicking has been going on for quite some time. Little things here and there. I have been threatened to be fired multiple times. I am at my wits end. I am lost and instead of getting help with the issues more things pop up. You didn't do this, that, or another. Work. We can't live with it but we can't live without it.

My girlfriend owns a shop. I help a little bit sometimes.
I think the quickest and surest way to grow an intense dislike of people is to work in a shop. You are daily confronted with immense stupidity. Helping customers is most certainly not my thing!

I love helping customers. I have always been a people person, but like everyplace it is a corporate world. So there is always something or someone who can and will bring you down instead of lifting you up.

This is hard, it was a simple choice for me to leave my job, but i can see your situation is a little different, but being happy is better than being miserable. Maybe start looking at a second place to work, and if something comes through, leave there respectfully, and see if that other job works out and so on, you could still maybe go back to this job if you leave the right way, but why stay if your boss is being unreasonable. This is a profession so i suspect is something you thought you would enjoy?

I enjoy my job. I enjoy people. Making tips, almost as if I'm controlling how much I make. However it is a franchised corporation and if I had enough money and business sense I'd open my own shop.
