greetings, pleased to be here.
i am a mature age cattle farmer living in the north-eastern portion of victoria with my life partner in a same sex relationship. marriage between same sex couples has recently been legalised in australia.
this of course, as many of you will know... when you live out bush (in the country) there is a very hard streak of conservatism and the necks are really a hot pink! we have had to endure much hatred and censure over the last 25 years. these good christian folk can sometimes be as mean as a junk yard dog. things certainly have improved but in day to day life nothing has changed
i am lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of the country in the foothills of the strathbogie ranges.. the farm comprises undulating paddocks and steep hill country!
a view from my shed in summer... winter is cold, long and green. certainly not as cold as the northern hemisphere climes but cold eough to keep me in the blankets a while longer.

this pic is of an orphan calf called chester. he was abondoned by ma and was raised on the bottle by me. chester still comes up to me in the paddock looking for a bottle. it can be a bit unnerving to have a near full grown steer sidle up to me sucking on the motorbikes handle bars. 😱 he’s a good boy.
we used to run sheep but as we got older we transitioned to cattle only. a much lighter work load.
the image above was taken from the verandah. the autumn light is really beautiful and reflects kindly on the west facing hill.
