Today's Caitlin Johnstone article has been replaced with a statement from the Editorial Board of the National News Conglomerate, your trusted source for real news and authorized opinions. Obey.
Well, this is awkward.
Many of our readers have been pointing out the recent revelations that some rather significant falsehoods have been knowingly advanced by the British government about Russia and promoted uncritically by trusted media outlets of the western world. Following said revelations, there have been some attempts by the Foreign Office and those same media outlets to cover up said falsehoods.
Rather than double down and risk making a bad situation worse, we here at National News Conglomerate have decided to come clean with our readers about exactly what's going on with this whole Russia kerfuffle.
It should here be noted that after typing the preceding paragraph, we here at the NNC Editorial Board have spent the last six and a half hours sitting around the conference room table chewing on our erasers and checking our Twitter notifications, not quite sure how to continue. This is the first time we've ever tried being honest with our readers about this stuff, and it's just weird for everyone. We are sure you can relate.
So here's the thing, see: it isn't our job to tell you the truth. Large media corporations like ours are all owned by powerful billionaires, all of whom have a vested interest in preserving the establishment upon which they have built their massive kingdoms. Those billionaires hire executives to direct their media empires who are loyal to establishment interests, those executives in turn hire editors who are loyal to establishment interests, and those editors hire journalists who are loyal to establishment interests, effectively creating an environment wherein the only way to get ahead is to unquestioningly promote whatever narratives are being advanced by western intelligence/defense agencies and their plutocratic allies.
At this point in history, this means helping to advance a very aggressive agenda against the Russian government in the US and its client states.
A 2017 Department of Defense Risk Assessment by the US Army Strategic Studies Institute says that the US empire is in what it calls “post-primacy” and may currently be on its way out the door.
“In brief,” the assessment reads, “the status quo that was hatched and nurtured by U.S. strategists after World War II and has for decades been the principal ‘beat’ for DoD is not merely fraying but may, in fact, be collapsing. Consequently, the United States’ role in and approach to the world may be fundamentally changing as well.”
So when we told you, for example, that Russia was the only government with a motive to poison Sergei Skripal and his daughter, we weren't being entirely honest. The international allied intelligence and defense agencies of the western empire have every motive in the world to manufacture international support for sanctions and hawkish agendas which disrupt disobedient governments. In fact, the western alliance has far more motive to stage such an attack and frame Russia for it than Russia has for attempting to assassinate an ex-spy who has been strategically irrelevant for years. This is also true of the alleged hacking of the DNC in the US and all the other Russia stories we've been circulating. We've been reporting these allegations as though they are unquestionable facts for many months now despite the complete absence of the sort of evidence you suckers should be demanding in a post-Iraq invasion world, when really the US-centralized empire stands far more to gain by them than Russia does. The western world is becoming increasingly galvanized against Russia and will soon be poised to collectively sanction Putin's rogue state right off the world stage, leaving nations like China, Iran and Syria far more exposed to subversion and sabotage.
We're writing all this not because we've suddenly become a bunch of peace-loving flower children, but because we think we guardians of the western empire are ready to enter into a more mature relationship with you, the public. Instead of trying to deceive you into consenting to CIA-hatched agendas with fairy tales about Kremlin agents under every bed and "won't someone think of the children" hogwash, we're just going to be honest with you about what war and aggression needs to happen in order for this empire to continue.
I mean, think about a world which the US no longer dominates using the carrot of military alliance and the stick of military demolition? Anything could happen! The Russia-China tandem will become more powerful and capable of enacting its agendas throughout the world, and then in a couple of decades, who knows? Those Yellow Hordes we've been warning you about for the last century could show up on your shores any minute!
So here's what we are asking from you, our readers, in an attitude of mutual respect: let us do what we need to do, and don't make a fuss. We might need to kill a few million Koreans and Middle Easterners and flirt with nuclear confrontation a bit. We'll have to tighten up on free speech and increase our surveillance programs to make sure we keep domestic dissent under control, and to be honest we'll probably need to have a world war with Russia, China and whatever other governments take their side... but if you don't let us do that, the bad guys will win!
So just play along, okay? Let us have our proxy wars and cold war escalations, give us the surveillance and censorship and black site torture programs we've been trying to manipulate you into giving us, and this will all be over before you know it. Then we'll control the whole world at long last, and there will be no mischievous governments or alternative media or thought crimes interfering in the maturation of our beneficent relationship with the unwashed masses.
Because let's be honest, it's not like you really have a choice anyway. If you don't play along we'll just be forced to brutalize your psyches with even more aggressive psyops while still doing what we want behind your backs. We will get our wars, we will get our internet censorship, we will get our social engineering projects, we will succeed in hoarding all the money to ourselves to deprive you of power and political influence while you suffer and die. And you slaves will learn your place.
So don't ruin this for us, understand?
Thank you in advance,
The NNC Editorial Board

Oh DAMN! Preach it! It is this free speech and uncensored block-chain platform for sharing ideas and calling out autocratic bullshit by sharing information and opinion that makes all of the "I like your post follow back" worth it.
This is only funny if you say it out loud due to the spelling but I recently laughed at, "Once we lived in Empires run by Emperors. Then Kingdoms run by kings. Now we live in Countries....."

Having never seen in my lifetime, such flagrant propaganda from the so called 'media' outlets, is indicative of just howmuch they are losing the narrative.
In their hegemonic reality, their dinosaur brains just couldn't compute 'Internet. Access and information for everyone to make up their own minds'
They are desperate in way I have never seen.
This great news.
Strangle them with facts, and open forums, and lets dance around the dinosaur carcass called 'mainstream media'
There, got that off my chest!
(I used to think the BBC were unbiased, sorry everyone)

The continue hyping making it appear that the study was done by any agency within the US government can be null and void just by looking at this disclaimer within the report:
The views expressed in this report are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official policy
or position of the Department of the Army, the Department of Defense, or the U.S. Government.
The report was done by the US Army War College, no one would expect any less from a report that basically amounts to a term paper. It's a college that exist to, in their own words: The purpose of the United States Army War College is to produce graduates who are skilled critical
thinkers and complex problem solvers.
Most of the study is based on the influences or lack there of a Obama Presidency which sought to downplay the US military's standing in the world, therefore weakening the military's standing by not having strong leadership who would speak out. This is what led to Russia going into Ukraine and North Korea flinging missiles over it's neighbors heads. Yes you can and should question why that would even be important or their job in the first place. If you can't see the consequences from such a short amount of time of weak leadership in the case of Ukraine and NK just imagine what would happen if we had gotten another president soft on speaking out or taking a strong stance. Yes we can argue that it's not the US governments job or the US government does similar things by occupying/occupancy in foreign lands....but in the overall picture you can either be free or you can let countries who do not allow their citizens to be free spread and sprawl across country after country until they also occupy your land, determine what you can or cannot write literally but also tell you that this is your leader forever through policy made at the top level or force coercion or intimidation tactics. We may not like the propaganda or the war machines but the plain fact of the matter is that without them the world would easily be dominated by whoever choose to be the most ruthless to get there. That's why it's important who really does own the oil in the ME because it's the sale of that much needed domestic product that produces the wealth to put into weaponry. You want to talk about the growth of the military industrial machine within the US but China isn't doing any less then the US is doing by going into the South China Sea, Russia isn't doing any less invading into Ukraine, surely you can't assume that Russia's backing Assad would be happening if Assad didn't have something of value that Russia wanted. Right? They wouldn't care otherwise and they definitely wouldn't care who they would have to genocide to keep things complacent against those who have no voice. Personally I would rather face media propaganda in my face everyday then to have myself or family genocide to bring the sheeple under control. I don't have to believe the propaganda and I am free to choose so, that would never happen under Russian or Chinese control. Dialogue was also a focal point for new structure, those dialogues would include countries coming together to decide to use non forceful measure to get other countries under control, such as sanctions. So far this seems to be working with NK whose has decided to come to the table and join the dialogue. NK leadership had to have been convinced there is no underlying plot to take him out and reunite the Korean peninsula. There will be no unification because China won't allow it, they do not want a free republic or democracy living along their borders which could propaganda and influence their citizenry into revolts, that's why China backs its communist next door neighbor. That's why it's so important to convince NK the war is over, it's been over for decades, it's time to come out onto the world stage and participate with the rest of the world without fear regardless if your a communist country or not, China isn't going to allow any less. The constant barrage of hate towards towards US policy is stinging at times when they are no less guilty then other power structures whom most seem to want to make them look like they stand on a pedestal. We may not like it but just where would a whole lot of these smaller countries be without a superpower who would have their backs in order to help them maintain their freedom?

Russophobia/Russomania has hit a fever pitch, and seems unstoppable simply by refutation. What kind of counter-narrative could derail it is the question of moment. Not having an answer, I hope we can start working on it and maybe come up with one, or elements of one.
It’s helpful to note, as Caitlin does, that the threat is real. It is also long standing. Animus toward Russia has been seeded in the U.S. consciousness for many decades. J.F.K. used it to help get elected with his imaginary missile gap. It was a big part of Reagan’s appeal. Nixon used it to advance his career. American schoolchildren received propaganda in their social studies classes about “two worlds,” the free one and the Soviet one. The media routinely misreports news in Russia to fuel a narrative of totalitarian repression, the latest election in Russia being a case in point. Believing this or that factoid becomes irrelevant to the avalanche of propaganda that preceded it. We’d have to go back and re-write many decades of “history” — collective wisdom — to get to anything like a level playing field. The psuedo-events that are offered up officially to carry the false hate-the-enemy narrative rely on this distinctly pitched pitch, and you’d have to have the determination of a Sisyphus to attempt to move the ball toward the Peace and Rapprochement end of the field, with predictable results.
Again, I wish I knew a counter-narrative, or elements of a counter-narrative, that would be helpful in redressing Russomania. Hopefully, one will emerge from our collective efforts. That Trump has repeatedly stated that he seeks Rapprochement with Russia seems a ball important enough to keep one’s eye on, a utensil in the toolkit that should not be squandered.
All the fuel that’s being added these days to the fire most probably has something to do with the reversals on the ground for [the Greater Middle East Strategy}(http://www.inspiretochangeworld.com/2015/09/isis-is-working-on-mossadcia-plan-to-create-greater-israel/), and the role Russia and the Trump Administration has played in those reversals. Since these are reversals which have both advanced the cause of Peace and reduced the number of casualties in Syria, they should be explicitly supported by progressives.
