Don Lemon fired by X/Twitter after one episode - and it didn't even air.

I wasn't even aware that this was happening until after Don Lemon was fired. I don't really follow Twitter very much because it is mostly filled with celebrities trying to tell us how awful the world is and we are supposed to feel bad for these poor millionaires and their rough lives. I also pay very little attention to the likes of Don Lemon and his ilk, who are just talking heads for their corporate masters.

When I heard that Musk had hired Lemon to do a show that I can't imagine many people would watch anyway, I was thinking to myself that the only reason why Musk did so was so that he can either genuinely create a balanced "network" or at the minimum he wanted to create the illusion of having done so.

I don't know what the specifics of Lemon's contract with Musk was meant to be but I would imagine it was quite lucrative. According to Lemon himself, he was free to do whatever he wanted on his show and X and Musk himself would not attempt to control what they can talk about and what they say.

So Don's first guest on his new show that never aired was an interview with Elon Musk himself which was actually quite generous of Elon to do that since it would basically guarantee viewers. So what did Lemon do with this interview? Well he basically badgered Elon about his policies at Twitter and accused him of supporting conspiracy theories and furthering the cause of the "far right," whatever that even means anymore.

After the interview Elon Musk cancelled the contract with Don Lemon and well, it is his right to do that since he owns the company. Think about it for a second: Let's imagine that you are a disgraced reporter that was first demoted by your previous employer and then eventually fired by them as they restructure. You have no job and basically no one wants to hire you. Then someone generously offers to give you a position within their company at a massive salary even though this employer is very aware that the two of you butt heads professionally. So what do you do during the first meeting with this boss? Do you do everything you can to berate them and make them look foolish or do you perhaps try to behave in a professional manner? Well consider me "shocked" that Don Lemon opted for the latter.

After being fired he immediately reached out to the press and of course, they are reporting on this in a predictable manner attempting to pint Elon as a man with very thin skin that can't take any criticism. They have even accused him of suppressing "free speech" because he fired Lemon. The usual suspects like WSJ, WaPo, The NYT, MSNBC, and of course CNN are all attempting to make Don Lemon out to be an innocent victim here.

Don Lemon used this dream job opportunity to not embrace in telling real news, which seriously would benefit him and everyone else, but instead to destroy his chance with the company to pursue self-promotion. X executives responded to the accusations and the fact that Don Lemon intends to continue his show without Elon's support.

“The Don Lemon Show is welcome to publish its content on X, without censorship, as we believe in providing a platform for creators to scale their work and connect with new communities. However, like any enterprise, we reserve the right to make decisions about our business partnerships, and after careful consideration, X decided not to enter into a commercial partnership with the show.”

That's a perfectly civil response is it not? Unlike the Twitter of years ago, X isn't even going to prohibit Don Lemon from posting his show on their own platform even though he has made it very clear that he intends to attack this platform right out of the gate.

The thing I find most frustrating about Don Lemon other than, of course, his constant playing of the race card in any available scenario, is that he doesn't appear to have any sort of solid and consistent viewpoints. When Twitter was "permanently banning" accounts of conservatives from 2019 until Musk reinstated them, Don was constantly stating how "this is a private company and it can do whatever it wants." Now that the cannon is pointed the other way, Lemon is claiming that him being fired is somehow the suppression of free speech. Methinks that Mr. Lemon doesn't actually want free speech, he just wants it when it applies to him and people who think like him. Unfortunately, this is, whether they want to admit it or not, how a lot of people feel about free speech.

Don wasted zero time attempting to garner sympathy from anyone who would listen about how awfully he was being treated. While he didn't directly state it, there were hints of him suggesting that part of the reason why Musk got rid of him was because of racism when he said "he doesn't want people like me to have free speech."

Get your head out of your ass Don Lemon! It's this victimhood attitude and arrogance that lead to your downfall as one of CNN's top anchors in the first place. In Lemon's attempt to continue this show without Elon's support, he has managed thus far to get a whopping 2.5 THOUSAND (you read that right) followers on his YouTube. Enjoy the $8 a month that is going to bring you, pal! Maybe this is exactly the sort of lesson that people like Lemon need to have introduced into their lives. Hit them in the pockets and watch their entire attitude change overnight. I think it will be a bit longer than that for Lemon and we are only a month or so away from him making a crying apology video in order to get some clicks.

Perhaps Lemon could have handled the interview with Musk differently to avoid this premature end.
Surely Musk has the right to make decisions for his company and act as he sees fit.
However, if he wants to create a balanced network with freespeech, he should also be able to accept some criticism.
