May be you,ve allready watched the amazing psychological thriller "split", directed by M. Night Shyamalan in 2016 . Is this film based on real facts , or is it all fiction?
Actually it (the plot) is based on real life story of Billy Milligan, born in February 13, 1955 in Ohio.
In late 70-s Billy Milligan has committed several felonies including armed robbery. He was arrested for three rapes on the campus of Ohio State University. After medical evaluation psychologists diagnosed Milligan with multiple personality disorder, also called Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

Billy Milligan's lawyers pleaded insanity, claiming that two of his alternate personalities out of 24, committed the crimes without Milligan being aware of it.
These two personalities – a Yugoslavian man named Ragen and a lesbian named Adalana were responsible for the crimes. So, because of his mental issues he was found not guilty.
In American history Billy Milligan was the first person to use his mental illness as a legal defense.
