Much gratitude! :) Seriously appreciate being noticed and expanding my readership.

I totally agree with you! Food can be our friend our our enemy! I have found this true in my own life! What a blessing of time and healing you had with your Thai family. You were indeed royalty to them and the best part is you taught them new eating habits which hopefully they will share with others. We are such creatures of habit and afraid to try new food patterns....it can really make a difference and indeed save or lengthen our quality of living and life! Really beautiful post :)

Awww.... thanks for the glowing support. :) Yes, we are SUCH creatures of habit, to the point where sometimes it kills us. The nice part of living a really beautiful life with the time to reflect, is that one is never short of really beautiful posts. :)

Food has always been the best medicine. It is a shame that most doctors are not well educated in the benefits of nutrition over prescription pills.

I think that's slowly - thankfully - beginning to change. But yes, we have a generation of "doctors" who don't know and don't really care about diet and #foodismedicine I secretly believe love, intention and attention tossed into the meal make it SERIOUS medicine. :)

That was beautiful! Indeed proper knowledge and discipline is one of the key to control blood sugar. We may not be fully treated diabetes but we can control it in our own hands. Thank you for sharing this story.

Just stopping that sugar addiction is miraculous in treating diabetes! White rice will be the death of Asia, not because it has about as much nutrition as wet newspaper, but because of the pancreatic mayhem it causes which flows on through the body with mood and hormone disturbance. Yes, we have most of the solutions in our own hands.

@nabithecat omg chubby cheeks!!! How cute are you!! What a gorgeous photo to treasure.

What a beautiful post. How wonderful that such a simple act of cooking appropriate food could give someone chance to make their peace, and what a blessing for him that you knew what to do. Loved this so much.

A well-nourished breast fed baby yes, has chubby cheeks. :) She was, and IS, such a cutie! Cooking is, to me, the alchemical "thing" that combines intention, love, nature and nourishment. Simple and yet so profound.

Grateful for the RESTEEM LURVE from @naturalmedicine @faroor and @unike Thank you. :)

such an incredible story.. i cant say you are an amazing person, because now im learning NVC.. and rather than label you i have to say that your story made me feel happy that others like you will care for people like this, and inspire to do the same myself!

Wonderful story @artemislives. Food is definitely a number one factor for a healthy lifestyle. If your eating habits are great, then you can have an extended life with no major hiccups. You are a powerful woman Marike. Love this post. Anddddd It should be @nabithecute instead of @nabithecat. Haha!

Thank you for sharing this important story. I admire your fortitude to speak up and his wife for loving him enough to accept your help. There is so much love and compassion in these actions.

My father in law died far too young from exactly the same thing. He had excellent medical care but if you don't help yourself then it is wasted. It broke our hearts to watch his steady decline, much of it accelerated by poor dietary choices.

I agree with you completely about Conscious medicinal cooking. My husband's family has a long history of heart disease and diabetes and we aim to prevent him from suffering the same fate. It all starts in the kitchen.

Oh wow this story really touched my heart! This is the best proof of how food can heal and give you more lifetime.
Thank you for sharing my dear!
xx

How fortunate that you could intervene and give you daughter's great uncle the gift of a longer life and it seems more love for your daughter. She is a cutey! It is amazing the effects a good diet can have on your health. Thanks for sharing your story!
