How I stopped my colds

Since it is a cold season, I decided to write my first post about what worked for me to stop the colds. Not to shorten them, but to stop them, provided I continue taking herbs still quite frequently for a while after symptoms are gone. I believe most people suffer colds for no reason as natural solutions exist, that can stop them.
I will start by sharing my first experience, when I stopped my cold. I just bought some lomatium, which is a strong antiviral herb, so I decided to use it. I took one teaspoon of lomatium tincture. It tastes bad. It almost burns the throat as it is resinous. But all of my cold symptoms stopped. I did feel like it was a bit too much, so I reduced next time dose in half. I took it in the evening. Next morning I felt a bit of congestion coming back, so I took half teaspoon then and two more half teaspoon doses few hours apart. I also took vitamin C powder, and to be honest I do not remember how much or how many times as it was over a year ago.
Next time I got the cold, I decided to try another herb since lomatium grows in the forests and I live in Southern California without forests, and wanted to find something that works, that I can grow or gather locally. I read someone's comment, that they ate a few fresh nasturtium leaves and it stopped their cold. I asked how many, but they didn't answer. So I went to my garden, and picked 5 largish nasturtium leaves. They are quite hot spicy, so in between the leaves, I ate some fresh stevia leaves. I felt strong sensations in my nose. :) And the cold went bye bye. This was in the morning, so I picked enough leaves for a two days (my garden is a community garden plot, so it is not next to my home), and ate 2-3 leaves every 2 hours or so, and whenever I could, I took half teaspoon of vitamin c powder (sodium ascorbate, non acidic form). I did that for 2 days, and then tapered it off slowly. Ideally I would have done it every hour, but I worked, and it would have been very hard to do. As a bonus, I noticed, that I had much more energy.
Vitamin C alone can be very helpful as well. My coworker once asked me, what I use for colds, and I told her about vitamin C since I knew she wouldn't be able to get herbs quickly. When I saw her later, she told me a story. It turns out her five year old daughter was having cold and cough, and she would always end up in the emergency room with an asthma attack while having those symptoms. My coworker gave her vitamin C every hour and she didn't have asthma attack. Instead she became better quickly, though not instantly like I did with the herbs.
We do not have to be sick with colds and suffer through them. Now my goal is to find some delicious or at least neutral tasting herbs, that stop the cold, not just shorten it. It is very hard for me to convince my son to take lomatium tincture or eat nasturtium leaves. If you had experience with better tasting herbs, please let me know.
I hope that this will be helpful to you.
