According to a study published in the Journal of Smooth Muscle Research in 2008, the guava extract can delay the onset of a castor oil-induced diarrhea, decrease the frequency of defecation and reduce the severity of diarrhea in rats.

Well, we've found that learning a lesson can be harsh, sometimes the hard way, sometimes it draws blood. And when it does, you don't forget.

Growing up, our backyard seemed like a forest where fruits trees grows abound, vegetable vines inter-mingling with the tree branches. We used to have a row of guava trees with different variety, big ones, small ones which have a different taste of their own.

My brother and I used to go straight in the backyard upon waking up, looking for any ripened fruit to eat before breakfast. Guavas was one of them. This one fruit we can eat the whole day round, our friends and neighbours sometimes coming around asking for them and picking from the tree themselves.

In the old days, we didn't need any money when hungry. We just go in the backyard and eat whatever we can find till full. Not knowing much on what guavas can do, more often we end up with constipation. Mind you, it's hard work! But did it stop us eating this yummy fruit? No. We didn't know better i suppose. They said not to eat the seeds...but it's full of them? And they're the yummy part. It's only now that there are seedless varieties.
