Flu season and the Tamiflu

in medicine •  7 years ago

Winter is here... or should I say flu season is here. It seems like we hear the same thing every year — it’s going to be bad flu season this year. In fact, different years bring different strains of flu, and the numbers of cases, complications, hospitalizations, and deaths related to the flu vary from year to year.

I work as a hospital nurse and for this winter season, we've had a few flu outbreaks already. Each time this happens, every patient is "prescribed" with the Tamiflu while every staff is "mandated" to take it. Whiles patients can say "no", staff members cannot work in the unit if they say "no".

Many have come forward with stories of Tamiflu side effects that I believe need to be shared.

I'm the same and have to take the flu vac every year to be allowed to nurse. I just wonder about the incidence of death from flu vac. They put it in the warning so if it does happen they're covered legally from dishing out millions. I would have to lit search that (and happy to do so).
