Why is it so hard to make time for the things we know will do us the most good? I just finished my meditation for today, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s that late afternoon slowdown, I’m sure you know it, when 4:30-5 pm rolls around and you’re not sure wether to pop the kettle on for another round of coffee or if you should start thinking about winding down for the evening.

In truth, after I’ve sent this post out into the blockchain it would probably be best if I started that wind-down process but I’ve just been given another children’s book to record VO for, along with a request for it to be delivered tomorrow. - I’m not sure what tomorrow’s schedule holds, so I’m thinking it’s best to get that done (or at least recorded) tonight, when it’s nice and quiet— and more importantly not raining!

Speaking of “Scheduling”, here’s what appeared at the end of today’s meditation…

Pretty timely no?

I’ve got a personal aversion to motivation quote images because of all the time I spent helping businesses market themselves on social media. In a word. I think they’re lame as hell.

That’s no shade to anyone who uses them or keeps them around for personal motivation, I just believe that so much wisdom has been so condensed, westernized, digitized and packed with a hand lettered font, that they’ve just become anecdotes instead of a truth that could actually take hold in someone’s mind a heart.

“We’ve substituted wisdom for knowledge and knowledge for data.”

One of my favorite quotes from the documentary about awareness called “Innsaei”

Oh wait, did just throw a quote at you.. damnit. Sorry!

I'm learning that, not unlike creativity, energy, and almost every other resource we have, focus has it's own burn rate, and although meditation was great, I'm coming to the end of mine for the day- time for one final sprint and I'm pulling the end of the day work whistle!

Until tomorrow friends,
<3 Dayleeo

I salute your conviction to consistently meditate! Meditation has changed my life! It's an everyday battle but after feels so luxurious!

As for your statement about motivational quotes, I submit this sign I see in almost all restaurant bathrooms.

I see the sign but no bathroom monitor ensuring it is happening... Much like those quotes, it all depends on a person's integrity.

That is so cool you do VO! I've done some, commercials and what not. How did you get into VO for children's books?

LOL that bit about the sign made me chuckle, but if you think about it, there's no one around to see if the folks posting the motivational posts are taking their own advice... ;)

I kind of just fell ass-backwards into it if I'm honest, my dream is to build toward character work- little by little ... always nice to meet a fellow VO!

Same here. I enjoy it because there is no camera on me, and I can do like 10 takes all in a row.

Hey if you'd like, no peer pressure, come on down to my corner of the steemiverse and check out my newly created Resonance Project.

Oh, I'm a quote lover but I totally get how it's easy to feel burned out on them after any kind of SMM work. Overload! It all comes back to mindfulness, and not just random sharing, I suppose.

haha i hoped no one would get offended by that, I'm glad you got what I was going for- You're right mindfulness and self awareness, is the key, not noise. Super appreciate you @everblossom- thank you for your comment!

Focus actually leads to meditation, so meditating on focus is somehow paradoxical:)

I can see that perspective... Maybe "practicing focus through meditation" is more accurate ;)

I'm talking about meditation in an eastern sense, where it is known as dhyana. To reach that state you have to be focused first, a state called dharana. But in the west meditation is actually a state of relaxation with a little awareness on breath, which precedes focus, so in that sense it is accurate :)

That's an admirable journey you're on, and I like the themes, all things I could use a little more of in my life for sure. One thing that has always helped me through the early struggles of entering another meditation phase is incorporating three-breath meditations throughout my daily routine. I try doing these after every time I brush my teeth or step out of the shower, or even just to break up a stressful day for five seconds, wherever you are. Just to stand still and be mindful of the moment and clear of everything else for those short bursts (or perhaps reciting one of your weekly mantras you have there) usually makes a world of difference, at least for me. Good luck with the rest of your four weeks!

Wow thank you so much for that advice, I'm going to do some research on three-breath meditations. Something I know I really love doing is alternate nostril breathing- so thank you for reminding me to try that as well.

Meditation always goes better for me first thing in the morning, particularly after yoga when my body is free of tension and i can just rest and be STILL.

It's been such a struggle, but I know that it means this is something worth pursuing... going to keep on keeping on <3

So appreciate your encouragement @roycecoolidge!
